Combine flax and water, set aside 10 minutes

Mash black beans with a fork or potato masher, mash most and leave about one quarter of the beans intact

Add the remainder of the ingredients plus the flax egg to the beans, combine thoroughly. Portion in 1/2 cup measures, flatten lightly to make fat burgers. Bake at 350 10 minutes, flip then bake 6 minutes more. Cover and refrigerate until ready to use.

Before serving, heat a little oil in pan. Cook about 4 minutes on each side, allowing a crispy crust to form on each side.

<b>Important!</b> Depending on how the patties have been formed or stored they may dry out considerably. Add to bowl with hot vegetable broth and reform if this occurs.
